Why Would A Baton Rouge Louisiana Cop Be Doing In Mineral Wells Texas?

I saw him driving around town in a baton rouge police car and baton rouge is 523 miles from mineral wells. I never seen a cop from another state driving around in their squad car.

Louisiana might as well send a few cops to Texas. We got alot of their criminals thanks to Katrina.

He may be there to pick up a prisoner who is being extradited back to Louisiana. This would be perfectly legal. He has no jurisdiction in Texas what else could it be?

He was probably picking up a scum bag that the Texas folks arrested and found out was wanted in BR. Or he was going to serve a warrant on someone.

He was more than likely, looking for the guns that old Ray Naggin, had pick up and missed placed. No, really If he had department business with the city or a prisoner transfer. That could explain why he was there. Also some officers have their own cars.

In Louisiana a lot of Police Departments actually lease their police cars to the officers. The officers are encouraged to use them off duty as a way to increase perceived police presence in the community. There is nothing illegal about it. There are also numerous duty related reasons why a police office may be in another state in their squad car.

Actually he was not lost. He was attending an out of state training course. Most departments require their officers to dress in uniform if they are using department vehicles.
This is nothing new. Tell him I said HI. I’m from around there

There are some cases where a police department will sell its cars to another department, because they get a grant to buy new cars. There is a time gap between the delivery of the car, and the time the car is repainted and recommissioned.
